Ingredients:
For the Bati:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup semolina
- 1/4 cup ghee
- Salt to taste

For the Saga:
- 2 cups chopped mixed vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beans, peas)
- 1 cup split yellow lentils (toor dal)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2-3 green chillies, chopped
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Water as needed
Instructions:
- To make the Bati, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, ghee, and salt in a bowl. Mix well and add enough water to make a firm dough.
- Divide the dough into small balls and shape them into flat discs. Prick the discs with a fork to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
- Heat a tawa or griddle and place the Bati on it. Cook them on medium heat until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside.
- To make the Saga, heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Fry until the mustard seeds start to splutter.
- Add the chopped onions, green chillies, and curry leaves to the pan. Fry until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the mixed vegetables, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt to the pan. Fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are cooked.
- Add the lentils and enough water to cover the mixture. Bring it to a boil and then let it simmer until the lentils are cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Add garam masala powder to the pan and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes.
- Serve hot with Bati.
Tips:
- You can add any vegetables of your choice to the Saga.
- Make sure to prick the Bati with a fork before cooking to prevent them from puffing up.
- Adjust the spice levels according to your taste.
